Thank you for your willingness to help out the Spokane area students. I am writing on behalf of an amazing group of young people. This year we have four local high schools involved in the “FIRST” Robotics Competition; where students design and build a robot that meets specific contest requirements. They then compete with other robot teams through out the United States and other countries as well. Industry and post secondary mentors that include teachers and professionals help the student to build their robots, but the students do the work themselves. These are truly amazing kids. For more information on the program you can go to www.usfirst.org.
The Spokane Regional Chamber of Commerce Manufacturer’s Roundtable is interested in enlarging the manufacturing and technology talent pool throughout the region. By providing students with relevant hands-on experience, many will pursue well-paying manufacturing and technology careers; and in doing so will help to reduce the region's skilled labor shortage gap. We believe that such experiences build essential life skills, and teach people that "IT'S COOL TO MAKE STUFF”.
The four high schools sending teams to Regional are East Valley, West Valley, Central Valley and St. George's. We are trying to raise the money for them to get to the Pacific Northwest Regional competition in Portland, Oregon on March 1-3, 2007 as well as promoting “FIRST” Robotics throughout the community in the hopes of having more schools participate in the future. Between hotel, meals and transportation each school needs to come up with $3,900.00 for a total of $15,600.00 that is needed. We are hoping that you, as a member of the Spokane Business community, will be willing to help.
You can choose to contribute at three different levels; Bronze, Silver or Gold.
- The Bronze level contribution is $1,000.00 and gets your company name on one of the robots and listed on the local website, www.spokanerobotics.com as a Bronze level sponsor.
- The Silver level contribution is $2,000.00 and gets your company name on two of the robots and listed on the local website, www.spokanerobotics.com as a Silver level sponsor.
- The Gold level contribution is $3,000.00 and gets your company name on three robots and listed on the local website, www.spokanerobotics.com as a Gold level sponsor.
Please feel free to go through all the information that has been provided. We are excited about sharing this great opportunity with you. When you have decided what level you would like to contribute please return the Sponsorship Agreement with your donation by February 10th. If you have any questions please contact me at johncrow@lloydpans.com, or call 509-468-8691 ext. 101. Thank you again.
